Lions In The Garden

King of the coreopsis.

A whole garden of daisies in bloom across the street.

Another stone lion guards this walkway.

Stray shasta daisies and coreopsis grow in the cracks along a garden wall.

Mr. Garden and I visited Weston this weekend.
Historic Weston is a picturesque, very hilly, old riverport town,
with wonderful shops and restaurants, antebellum homes,
charming B&B's, the Pirtle Winery
and, as you can see above, delightful little gardens.

  6. A few weeks ago, I found the most perfect red napkins with daisies and bumble bees. I can't wait for our daisies to start blooming. We are a few weeks out. I might have to comb our woods for some wild ones. Your Lions are rather handsome too!

  8. While your lions are very handsome, I don't like to think about lions in the garden because there was a mountain lion spotted about a mile from my house yesterday!

  9. Oh the daisies are wonderful - my favorite. When we had the deck built last summer all the daisy planting area was covered and I've not gotten any more planted - I want some soon.

  17. Good morning Gayle!
What lovely gardens these people have...I love the stone walls and all the old fashioned flowers and that little peek of the front porch makes me want to see more! Looks like a wonderful place to drive around and admire the old homes and gardens. One day I'm hoping that hubby and I will take a trip over to the east side of Missouri and follow the river towns and then come home via north eastern Kansas and follow the river for a bit there. Atchison Kansas is one little city I'd like to explore. I hope your week has been good so far..enjoy the rest and then the long weekend. Can't wait! Maura :)

  21. Those stone lions are so great.
Surrounded by daisies! such a gentle flower, but so strong too. So I guess it is quite appropriate to have them surround the lions~
