Apple Blossom

Who remembers Kiddle Kologne?

This is Apple Blossom.

She's missing some of her pink hair ribbons, but she's still in pretty good vintage shape.

I had one when I was a kid, so I did the happy dance when I found her.

I had a Lily of the Valley Kiddle Kologne, too.

And I think my sister(s) had Honeysuckle and Violet.

How many of these sweetly scented Kiddles were there, anyway? 

Apple Blossom, Lily of the Valley, Honeysuckle,Violet,  Sweet Pea, ...????  

Can you help me remember all of their names?

I have such wonderful memories of fun play with these tiny dollies.

Three Thank You's.

Look at the sweet surprise I received in the mail the other day! 

Lady Linda wrote to tell me she had found something that needed to come to my house. 

Oh, I do think she was right!

She's the cutest little blue and white pottery doll 

wearing a headscarf and carrying a basket of berries.

The stamp underneath says she was made in the USSR.

She is so similar to the Polish cheese ladies I collect.

She looks perfectly happy here with her "cousins"from across the border.

I love her!

I'm making pretty good progress with my Giant Granny afghan.

After that first disastrous attempt, I read all your suggestions and started over. 

I ditched two yarn colors, loosened my tension and added an extra chain to the corners.

I am still getting a bit of a twist,  so it's not perfectly square.

But it's not nearly as wonky as before.

I'm on row twenty-something and I like the way it looks.

Thank you so much for all your help!

And last, but not least....
Do you know what these two words say?

No?  Me neither.

Which is why I am pleading with you to
please please please turn "Word Verification" off.
It's so hard to figure out what the letters are.  I type it wrong almost all the time.
It's a huge source of frustration for anyone who wants to leave a comment for you.
I do think it's a good idea to use "Comment Moderation" instead,
and change your blog settings to accept comments from "Registered Users" only.

Raggedy Andy

You all know who this guy is!

Raggedy Andy!

This Andy sits on a shelf in my son's room.

A picture of my two little munchkins, playing outside on their tricycles 

with their Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls.

When I was a little girl, I had a Raggedy Andy.  

I was very attached to him.

This is a sketch my mom made of me when I was young.

See who is in the picture with me?

I loved that doll to pieces.  

Literally.  

After years of wear and tear, repeated washings and humid conditions, he wore out. 

My Mom stitched him back together, numerous times.  

And completely replaced a few limbs.  

But eventually the fabric was completely broken down.

I still have this one tiny piece of him

tucked away in a little tin of childhood treasures.

I know he loved me as much as I loved him.

Ever feel like there needs to be this many of you

Bath Time For Soapy!

It's bath time for wee Soapy!

(And it looks like it's laundry time for that dirty robe too!)

Soapy Siddle came with her very own gilded claw-foot tub, plush towel and talcum powder. 

My sisters and I had other Liddle Kiddles, but Soapy is the only one I still have.

We had Kiddles that were in perfume bottles,  lockets and soda-pop bottles.

They were so much fun to play with!!
