More Quilts

The little wall quilt is all done!   The hand sewing on the binding is done.   The label has been attached.   It's been washed and I have shipped it off for the auction (for Orphans Africa) at the end of the month.

And here are pictures of a few baby quilts I have made for friends in the past.

  1. WOW...what lovely work you do. I'm glad you do hand stitching. My mother-in-law has done some really pretty quilts. She especially enjoyed doing the applique ones. I'll have to take pictures and post so you can see the ones she's made for us. Her hand stitching around the edges of the appliqued pieces looks like it was done by a machine. Quilting was something that I always said, "I'll learn to do that one day"...and my MIL was willing to show me, but now she's gone and I'm so sorry I didn't learn the craft from her. Your quilts remind me so much of hers. I like the tulip one, especially! And the one you did for the auction. Take care and have a wonderful remainder of the weekend.

  6. They are lovely! I have two quilt tops I need to finish - one I'm quilting by hand and the other is a big queen size that I have to baste - Unfortunately, I'm finding it hard to get going. Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. Well done! They are beautiful. I've had a fun time looking at the posts I've missed over the past week. I love needlework too - I've done stockings for everyone in the family as well as pillows and the odd chair seat. It's so satisfying to watch the pattern emerge, isn't it?

  13. I wanted to stop by to thank you for the kind words you left when you stopped by earlier today. They truly are an encouragement to me. Glad you like the new look around my blog, too! That was FUN! One of the advantages of the new computer (once I finally figured out how to make the best use of it :0) ! There are a few other things I'd like to do, but it may take a while to get them accomplished!

  16. Gosh, I'm so impressed! I wish we lived in the same town so that I could take quilting lesson's from you (that is if you wanted to teach, of course) ~smile~ I have a great desire to learn but I just don't know where to begin. It seems overwhelming. How did you learn?

  19. Your quilts are so lovely. I still have several quilt tops that my Mother started and never finished. So, seeing your brings back such wonderful memories.

There is nothing nicer than curling up in a homemade quilt that has been made with loving hands.

  20. Oh darn - I live only about 40 miles or so from the auction site, but I'll be in eastern Washington taking care of my mom after she has shoulder replacement surgery. The auction is for a good cause and you're an angel to have made something so beautiful for the cause.

  27. Your quilts are absolutely beautiful. I have always admired all of the work that goes into quilting. My mother has made several and I have contemplated starting one but have never taken the big step to get started.

  31. Beautiful quilts! I can see that you really like blue. Thanks for following Porch Days. I agree with your comment about collecting too many things. We are house hunting and it makes me wish I didn't collect anything! I hate it when I look at a house and the first things everyone says is, "You are going to have to make some choices." Noooooo!

  32. Your quilts are simply beautiful! Blue is your color isn't it? They are all so striking and stunning.. really dramatic.
