Fantastic fellows all. My son in the middle wearing the flashy sunglasses, surrounded by two older cousins, DH on the far left and my brother-in-law on the far right. The boys were all acting goofy and going for the "MiamiVice" look with turned up collars, the night before a family wedding.

Where did the years go? Now he has fuzzy stuff on his chin.

And he is off to further his studies at this fine institution of higher learning, where one of his areas of study is a foreign language. So proud of him.

i love the mini firefighter :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post and I love the little firefighter
ReplyDeleteAnother great post, Gayle! It's been fun "meeting" your family, kind of one by one. Your son has the most pleasant smile! When I saw the first pictures I thought he looked like you, but then when I came to the picture of him right after the picture of the men in the family the night before a wedding, I couldn't believe how much he looks like your husband! WOW! I enjoyed learning about the different facets of his life that begin with F. You have much to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Nothing like a favorite son to generate lots of memories. Thanks for sharing these photos through the years. Seems they all grow up all too soon.
ReplyDeleteThey do grow fast don't they??? but it certainly is fun to watch them succeed...
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by and taking a look at my quilt..
Oh this is just killin' me. It brings back such memories of my little guy...who is now as tall as me. Well, anyway, I bought him a fireman raincoat, hat, and boots and I swear he didn't take it off for a year, at least! In fact, the day I brought it home was probably about 90 degrees and he took his nap in it. Oh I just might have to pst about that someday. Such sweet memories. Thanks for the "rememory" as my daughter used to call it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I got home and saw that you had commented I dashed over to your site and loved it! I grew up around KC and have been back there for a couple of days this week. Really enjoyed getting to know you through "Garden of Daisies"...Jamjar

Great post! My son is getting that fuzzy stuff on his upper lip, and pimples Oh Gosh it is not a good scene right now...I told him the good news is, all the kids his age look the same, so he will not get picked on! In reference to your dream...hmmm...I would google it...seems as though maybe you are trying to achieve something and just are not there yet???? I have no clue LOL, I googled mine....let me know if you do, I thought this was FUN!

ReplyDeleteHow sweet! Time flies far too quickly, doesn't it? I'm not a mama myself but I do have a brother who's half my age. And the first time I saw that fuzz on his upper lip I didn't quite know what to do with myself. But he was so proud of it! haha
ReplyDeleteYAY for you! I'm so excited to hear that you are pursuing the idea of crocheting!

A lovely family. I can see why you are proud. A cute little firefighter too. My son in law wrote the music for "Fireman Sam" the kids TV show.
ReplyDeleteAdventure Before Dementia
Good Sunday morning to you!
ReplyDeleteI just found your note and had to chuckle as you described your crocheting attempts...only I wasn't chuckling at you...it was me! Your experiences you shared fit ME to the TEE when I started this last afghan. That's why I am using a "P" hook rather than a "Q'! lol I put the hook in my right hand, the yarn in the left and then I just sat there and looked at both! The large hook felt so awkward in my hand that it was like I completely forgot how to do something that I've been doing for 30 years. It was so funny. I finally did manage to get like 10 chain stitches made...after about the 20th try! So, I got the "P" hook and found it much easier for me. It is incredible the number of times I've pulled out ROWS of stitches at a time to correct mistakes or straighten a stitch on this afghan. Not sure why that is...but I only have 108 more rows to go. You'll get the hang of it!
I admire you for trying something new. If I could quilt as beautifully as you I don't know I'd be trying anything new! :)
Wonderful fun photos. They do grow up too quick don't they? My son will be graduating from high school this spring and then off to college...it's going to be awfully quiet around here.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Sunday.
Jane
Hey Gayle, testing the waters so to speak, let's see how we go!Sorry about the hassle.

Testing the waters Gayle , let's see how successful I am!! Sometimes it's the things that are right in front of us that are hardest to see!!

Gayle, I wanted to thank you for the information you gave me on my blog (Vintage Comfort) about the embroidered "Polish Cheese Lady" doll. I'd wondered why she had two handles and was shaped the way she is. Thank you so much - I love learning things like that. Your family is beautiful~
ReplyDeleteMary (I couldn't find an email addy for you, that's why I posted here.)
Saw you had been by my blog and wanted to say hi!
ReplyDeleteYou have one good looking son, Gayle. I am sure he brightens you day in many ways. Love your post about him.
I'm like you ~ I collect way too much stuff!
Come by anytime. I would love getting to know you.
~Cheryl
Have you ever visited joscountryjunction.com? Lots of quilt posts...made me think of you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Gayle. I left you a note a little while ago and didn't even think to mention to you that I did post an update this evening. Basically, everything looks good. He basically shaved the place at the surface of the gum and then had to send it away of course. It's like a viral thing...a wart of sorts...or at least that's what he's thinking without confirmation yet. In 7-10 days we should know something more definite. Thank you for praying for me today. ~hugs~
