This is my collection of vintage crocheted hearts. There is a sweetness about these pretty little cushions: the pineapple crochet pattern on the front, the various lacy crocheted edges, and the satin ribbons woven through. Sometimes these hearts were used as a pin cushion in a sewing box or to hold favorite brooches at a dressing table. My Mom used small hearts as drawer sachets, scented with rose or lavender.

ReplyDeletelovely hearts indeed! and creative too no doubt!.. thanks for sharing..
ReplyDeletethey are indeed very pretty and yes my grandmother used to keep little lavender bags like that in the draws
ReplyDeleteI did not made any of these hearts myself. They were all found in antique shops and estate sales.
ReplyDeleteI found this site on the web that has lots of crochet patterns. "Heart Sachet" and Ruffles and Lace Heart" would be very much like some of the hearts in my collection. (I did not look at ALL of the patterns on that list, so there may be others as well.)

Wow, these are really neat! I've never seen such a thing, so much detail put into these tiny treasures- great collection!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! And I agree with the person above, such detailed work. What a lovely collection you have!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so many vintage hearts like this, very nice collection. On the baby moose, over in Retired in Alaska, yes one must be very careful to never come between a cow and calf. We always give the wildlife a lot of space and no barking dogs, that is all they want really and there is no trouble at all that way. Nan
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet vintage entry! Very unique collection!
ReplyDeleteThese hearts are just so sweet! I love them. What wonderful treasures!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! I wish I could crochet!
