Christmas is tucked into every corner of my home.
Little Tomten (Swedish for elf) and his forest friends.
I made this little elf when I was a teen, to match one we found at a store.
(See the store version down at the other end of the piano.)
Deer hide among the trees and family pictures.
(Many of the tree ornaments were given to us by my late MIL.)

Bright pixies frolic in a basket of wooden fruit.
(Those came from a fair trade store, where women from
underdeveloped nations sell their crafts to support their families.)

Sequined felt trees.
(Made by my husband's Grandmother many years ago.)
More of Grandmother's trees.
(My mom found the smaller tree at a vintage shop.)

A Gurley candle choir sings on the bookcase.
A candle nativity sits on a shelf.
( This set belonged to my folks, and I played with it when I was a little girl.
It has seen better days, but I still love it.)
Wooly sheep safely graze inside the china cabinet.

The lamp post.
(We received 2-3 inches of heavy, wet snow last night.)
Such beautiful Christmas decor. You have quite the sweet collection of Gurley candles and your fresh snow is the perfect way to kick off the approaching weekend. Fingers crossed that our rain turns over to snow. We want a white Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous decorations!
ReplyDeleteThe snow looks so pretty on your lamppost! We have ours decorated but it won't have snow on it! I sure love your Christmas treasures from years past. I don't have anything old from my family but I find vintage things at the thrift store...many that remind me of what we had. I love the sweet deer and pixies and elves! Merry Christmas my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove all of the Gurley candles... and I have that SAME green cake plate... I'll have to have a similar tree and deer display next year!

Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteI like how you spread the colour all over the house, tucking the decorations into places that are unexpected.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! I feel like I have stepped back in time the 1950s at my Gramma's house. I remember the sweet little waxed carolers...and, we never lit them. They were too cute to light.
ReplyDeleteYour home is so cozy and full of Christmasey sweetness!
Thank you for your kind friendship!
Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteOh I love the elf you made. And the pixies and sheep are so dear!
ReplyDeleteThe little candle choir is so adorable. I love the little houses and the deer, the little elves, and the one you created as a teen. Everything looks festive and merry.
ReplyDeleteLove the old candles! As you may know, I have some too!
ReplyDeleteOh - I remember those choir boy candles so well! Love your bottle brush tree collection too...
ReplyDeleteWe also got a large part of the upper midwest storm - thankfully, our kids landed safely inbetween the snowflakes & right after we picked them up at the airport, the visibility dropped dramatically and heavy snow returned.
Wishing you and yours a beautiful Christmas and all that is good in 2013.
How charming...love the wooly sheep and pixies! The lamp post looks like it could be in Narnia! Merry, merry Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteWe had those candles at Christmas when I was a small child.

Gayle, no wonder your daughter wanted everything the way you've always had it at Christmas around your house! It is ALL just beautiful...and what treasures! It appears the storm is over here now...we received about 4-5 inches of snow...but there is lots of ice under the snow.
ReplyDeleteLove your Christmas collection! It's all so pretty! Merry Christmas, Smiles, Holly
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. What a lovely scene for Christmas. You home is certainly ready. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment. I appreciate it so much. Enjoy the snow, and Merry Christmas. Hugs, Karie
ReplyDeleteHow fun is Christmas at your house! Love that litte elf you made as a teen. Also love the Swedish name. Your collection of deer is precious and I love those wooly sheep! Oh, I had a couple of those choir candles years ago. Oh, I'm sure I got rid of them when I was younger and thought they were out of style. Now, I'd buy them in a big hurry if I ran across them. Love your choir! And your lamp post is piecture perfect! Have a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
