Someone asked about the pretty serviettes
that show up in the background of my tea time posts.
I have a growing collection of little napkins.
Daintily embroidered blooms and butterflies, crocheted edges, lace corners,
all carefully stitched by hands unknown.
They shyly peek out from under china and silver,
quietly adding a finishing touch to the table,
happily allowing the spotlight to remain on the teapot.
I love these! Its such a beautiful pastime that reminds me so much of my childhood - my mom and granny always had serviettes like these - made by family members in a gentler age. They do provide a lovely finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteSo very very pretty. They certainly add a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have some that are similar that I inherited from my Grandma. Also some beautiful hand made pillow cases. I wish I had that kind of talent!
ReplyDeleteI love the embroidery its so lovely! I have pillowcase that are embroidered and also a few tea napkins too. I enjoy having hand made linen.

ReplyDeleteI LIKE VERY MUCH!
ReplyDeleteWell who wouldn't love to see a little flowered face peeking out from under anything cute on a tea table? Super sweet!
ReplyDeleteI had to go and find mine after reading your post. My mum embroidered everything! Table cloths, napkins, little cloths for the tea tray, handkerchiefs, table cloths etc., I didn’t think much of them when I was young so only kept a few. Now I wish I had more.
ReplyDeleteI just love this kind of thing. It says so much! Reminds me of so much!
ReplyDeleteThey are precious and beautiful. I love the lace edgings. What a pretty addition to teatime.
ReplyDeleteThose are just lovely!

ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your pretty napkins and you inspired me to use those I have, most of them embroidered by my mother.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful things must get out of drawers more often...
Thanks for sharing.
Your little servettes are so sweet. I collect vintage linens and have a few, mostly white ones. I love all the colorful embroidery and crocheted edgings on yours.
ReplyDeleteSo dainty and sweet. I appreciate the time and work that went into these vintage pretties.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see me. Your tea, my cookies, a tea party. I have been doing some deep fall cleaning and just yesterday came across so many linen napkins and hankies also some embroidered, some crocheted edges. They are treasures that I now will be using instead of tucking them away.
ReplyDeleteLoved this sweet entry.
Blessings
What a pretty collection! They would make any table very special.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet collection! Particularly love the little one with the tea pot.
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet! I have some too, but I know who stitched them!! I think I'll have to pull out of the buffet drawer they live in -- and use them!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely beautiful
ReplyDeleteThey ARE pretty. Where do you find them, did you make any yourself?
ReplyDeleteI am with you on these - I have one or two, cough, cough, cough (oh dearie me that cough is particularly bad at the moment!!!)There was a lovely embroidered tea cosy in the charity shop yesterday and I was very proud of myself as I did not buy it. I think I may have to get myself checked over!
ReplyDeleteSomething old and handmade adds an extra special something as I am sure you would agree
Have a warm and cosy day and thank you for dropping in as always
Best wishes
Jenny
