The sunflowers are in bloom!
And I adore sunflowers.
And I adore sunflowers.
So, I decided that today was a good day
to go traipse around in the dirt
and stand in a whole field full of sunflowers.
Almost every bug and bee in this state
decided today was a good day for that, too.
We met in the field.
And a few of them tried to hitch a ride home with me.
But I said "No!".
The biggest sunflowers were taller than me,
a couple of days past their prime bloom,
and beginning to bow their heads.
The smaller ones were just beginning to pop open.
I picked a few,
paid my money at the field box
and brought them home.
I think they look very happy sitting here
next to the crewel sunflowers made by my Mama.
They sure make me smile.
These are beautiful, and I am sure make your house shine!

How amazing to stand in a whole field of them Gayle.....
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous and such bright, cheery flowers. They certainly make a statement and are perfectly placed next to your mums embroidery.
My chooks are still feasting on the seed heads from last years flowers...... a nice tasty snack.

I never saw sunflower fields until I moved to Europe. I could not believe my eyes. Funny but I bought some yellow flowers that the Dutch call sun hats and we decided that we need more yellow blossoms in the garden.

Too cute and too fun. I got a chuckle out of the bees and the bugs trying to come home with you. I love sunflowers! I have had a bunch reseed and come up in random places this year. I think the birds had alot to do with it. I have really enjoyed them and have brought a few inside. Just wish they didn't drop that bit of yellow on the cloth every day. Sunflowers are just a happy flower. The crewel work your mother did is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

So, so, so pretty! I love sunflowers, too, but the heat and drought got to ours this year. Hoping for a better growing year next year!
ReplyDeleteYour mom's crewel work is beautiful! And those sunflowers are gorgeous. A few can be found around here but they dried up months ago. Winter is our growing season and unfortunately it's a very short season. Have a great day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I've always loved the sunflowers of the midwest. We just don't see them like that around here.
ReplyDeleteThe sunflowers next to your Moms picture is amazing. They are so happy and pretty looking. That must have been fun to be in a sunflower field.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous! What a great day! We don't have anything like that here, must have been wonderful in that field, despite the bugs! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of the sunflower fields even if the bugs were trying to distract you. The flowers at home in front of your mom's picture look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteMe toooooo...I love their happy faces...I think I need to go out and buy a bunch today. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post filled with sunflowers! I loved seeing your pictures of the fields and of the sunflowers in your home next to your mother's embroidery....so sunny and cheerful!
