Peter Rabbit, More Squares

I love the tales told by Beatrix Potter.  The books are tiny enough for little ones to hold, the illustrations amazingly gorgeous, and the stories unforgettable.  And every child can relate to the curious and naughty Peter Rabbit, who gets himself into a great deal of trouble when he does not heed his mother's warning and goes into Mr. MacGregor's garden.  He eventually makes his way back home and his mother tenderly takes care of him and tucks him into bed.

These plates hang on my kitchen wall year round but I thought it very appropriate to share them with you at Easter.   They remind me of many lovely afternoons when my children would sit at the kitchen table to have tea and cookies with mommy.    And they also remind me what our Easter celebration is really about:  Forgiveness from someone who loves us very much and a chance to start anew.

  4. Your niece will be in my prayers!

    Love your Beatrix Potter plates.

Rosemary biscuits. Just make your favorite biscuit recipe and add a nice palmful of chopped fresh rosemary. If you don't have fresh, you can make do with tried only use less. Brush biscuits with egg wash and sprinkle more rosemary on top.

I love your Beatrix Potter plates. When I read you have the cups, etc. I could easily see the pictures you painted for us as you had tea and cookies with your children each day.

Your squares are beautiful...as always. Such talent wrapped up in one person!

    Take care...hugs coming to you.

  13. I'll remember your niece every day - she's on my list.
Peter Rabbit figured large in my children's growing up years. Bunnykins dishes and those tiny little books. I was touched to see that my daughter bought a set as a gift when she was asked to be godmother - a lovely tradition continued.

  15. Gayle,

Just popped in to see today's post. Always love to see what you have stitched lately. You are good at it. I do love Peter Rabbit. My fourth born had Peter Rabbit as the theme for the nursery. I love all of the Beatrix Potter stories, and my kids loved to watch the videos. They all had a little lesson tucked in there, didn't they? :-)
Please know I will be praying for your niece and the baby. I know the family is worried much for her. I will pray for her doctor too, to have wisdom. God is our greatest physician and caregiver in our times of physical challenges and/or possible danger. I know HE will be hearing all the prayers. One good side benefit of blogging is that you can count on so MANY people out there to join you in prayer. It is a wonderful blessing. Will be watching for positive news! Hugs. Be sure to tell her about all your prayer warriors. Hope it will encourage her and give her courage.

  16. Good morning, Gayle,

Thank you so much for the comments you left me yesterday. I'm so glad that you and your sister are able to talk and share your faith...and are able together to trust Jesus to take care of your niece. He never fails us...never. His mercy and grace will see your family through this as He did when you all suffered the loss as a result of the horrible accident.

I also want to say thank you for giving me the names of some organizations that basically do what I want to see done. You can rest assured that I will be checking each of them out to see how they each operate. That was a tremendous help to me. To answer your questions...I'm really not sure what my part is at this point...other than praying. I really don't have one group of women in particular in mind. My burden did come in Mexico, but I'm open to wherever the Lord would open a door for me to serve. Thanks for your prayers.

Is your family still going to be able to get together for Easter with your niece being on bed rest? I'll be thinking of you.

Hugs coming to you from WV (where the temps are to be in the 80's today! Yay!)

  17. Have you seen the movie "Miss Potter" It is the life story of Beatrice Potter. I loved it. You are doing so well with your squares and you have so many ideas. Sorry to hear about your niece's terrible time. How could one person be so unlucky. I send her my best wishes.

  20. Taking a break here for lunch and found your comment. I wanted to go back over and thank you for adding yet another organization that I can check out.

And I was so blessed to learn of your early years in life being spent on foreign soil as a result of your dad's being a minister. That picture you posted of him a while back led me to believe that he was one who led a life close to the Lord because his countenance was just so serene. I'm sure your mother was the same way. You traveled extensively to have been in that many countries in those 14 years. Were you actually born away from the States? Our grandson Josh was born in Mexico City...and he has dual citizenship until he's 18. He loves telling people that he was born in Mexico because they see that blond hair and blue eyes and can't believe it. ~wink~

Thanks so much for sharing, Gayle. That means so much to me.

    Your stitches are so beautiful!

Yesterday I did buy a chart book with B. Potter designs, I couldn't resist the temptation :) I love the stories and the pictures so much.

    Bye, Carolien

  24. I am so terribly sorry! I did not know about this. I cannot even imagine what she must be going through at this time..this is such a difficult time for her and your family!!

Of course I will send up a prayer for her and her tiny babe. Of course I will, and we all will!

Your Easter display is lovely and of course I love those dishes hanging on your wall. Adorable. I am a huge fan of Beatrix Potter and have been for more years than I can count.

The little linen napkins you admired on my blog are from Pottery barn. I thought I had written and told you but I don't see it here...

Love and hugs to you...and have a wonderful and joyous Easter Sunday.
