We went to the St Paddy's warm-up parade yesterday to watch these talented kids:
The Irish dance school that my daughter danced with for many years.
The big St Pat's parade will be downtown tomorrow, but I'll be at work
As you know, I love Irish music and dance
and have taken a few ceili classes myself, because it's so fun!
A few weeks ago I gave you reason number one (of three)
for naming my blog "Garden Of Daisies".
Well, here is reason number two: It's the name of a favorite traditional Irish set dance.
I'm including a video of that dance, found online.
Be sure to wear green tomorrow and enjoy watching Garden Of Daisies.
Be sure to wear green tomorrow and enjoy watching Garden Of Daisies.
(You can watch them all, or just skip ahead to 7:55 for Garden of Daisies)
Ah, tomorrow, EVERYONE will be Irish!
ReplyDeleteYes, the Irish love to welcome everyone to the party! :-)
DeleteHave a Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow! I will be wearing green. xx Dianne
ReplyDeleteWe've been enjoying Irish food, parades and all things green since last week! Around here is it more of a week long celebration. :-)
DeleteEnjoy your St. Patrick's day celebrations. I'm hiding some gold chocolate coins this evening for Josie. A tricky leprechaun will be visiting later tonight.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Josie will dance a little jig when she finds her leprechaun gold! :-)
DeleteI enjoyed the music and dancing - such talent, and love the reasons for naming your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank, JoAnn! Happy St Paddy's day to you!
DeleteOh yeah! Wear in' the green tomorrow! Do you still dance? I think I'd have a heart attack!
ReplyDeleteYes, Patti, I do. I enjoy ceili dancing (Irish group dances that are usually performed in social settings, parties, pubs, etc...) and have taken several sets of classes (6 weeks at a time) over the past year. The teachers are the girls (now women) who were my daughters friends during the years that she competed, and they keep it fun! It's also a good way to get in a little exercise each week. I took a few months of classes with the Irish teacher who founded our local irish dance school, a few years ago, but she has since passed away.
DeleteGosh the dancing is so good. very talented young people. It is great that the tradition is kept alive. I liked the Garden of Daisies.
ReplyDeleteThe kids who do this type of dancing are amazing. They're talented, creative, physically fit, and poised in front of a crowd.. I honestly can't say enough good things about the experience that my daughter had when she was taking Irish dance classes, competing and performing.
DeleteWonderful! Thanks for sharing, i love the Irish music!
ReplyDeleteHappy St Patrick's Day Gayle!
Gill xx
Me too, Gill! Happy St Pat's to you!
DeleteEnjoyed the video, they are wonderfully talented dancers! Enjoy and have a Happy St. Patrick's Day.
ReplyDeleteTami, the next time the girls offer the Ceili classes, you'll have to come with me. It is a lot of fun!
DeleteLove watching them dance! Happy St Paddy's Day! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! Which is one reason why I continue to support our local dance school and the little kids who compete, perform at the festivals and march in the parades.
DeleteHappy St Patricks day. I love Irish music and yes I'm wearing green too.
ReplyDelete:-) Yay! Might as well have some fun! Wear green, dance a jig, etc...
DeleteHappy St Patrick's Day! Thanks for sharing...I love the irish music!
ReplyDeleteHelen xox
Thank you, Helen! Me too!
DeleteVery fun. I always think of you when I see Irsh dancers.
ReplyDeleteWatched the parade this morning from home, fun as always.
Got the green on too.
M :)
That's a nice thing to be associated with. :-)
DeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day Miss Garden of Daisies Lassy . . .
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lynne!
DeleteThey look very good - must have been fun to watch. Here I am in Ireland and I worked in my garden instead of going to any of the parades - but I did enjoy the day off work immensely :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not a work holiday here, so I usually go to the warm up parade on the Saturday before St Pat's. Our gardens here are just barely beginning to thaw out. Nothing growing yet.
DeleteSo enjoyed the video. I thought of going to see our parade this morning, but it was cold out. Enjoyed watching it on television and kept cozy. Love to hear the pipers. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteI love the pipers, too! :-)
DeletePerfect for today! How fun. My niece used to dance too. I just love to watch the kids. Hard work.
ReplyDeleteHappy St Pat's.
Which school did she dance for, Linda?
DeleteVery nice....enjoyed the YouTube video.
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteHow fun! I love watching Irish dance. We checked a dvd out of the library that taught an Irish dance, and one of my 4 year olds was really into it.
ReplyDeleteGood! There is something so joyful about dancing. :-) The most accomplished dancer in our Irish dance school was a boy. And he is now the owner of the school. (The founding teacher from Ireland passed away not long ago.)
DeleteHow fun. I love to watch this kind of dance! I love the name of your blog!
ReplyDeleteMe too! And thank you!
DeleteLooks to be so much fun. You asked about the link to my facebook page. I have not put it on my blog, but will do so. Check back later and thank you!
ReplyDeleteI will check back soon. I think it helps to be able to link from the blog to the page (and vice versa) easily.
DeleteGreat music and lovely dancing, thanks so much for sharing them. I hope you had a very happy St. Patricks Day. My toes will be tapping for the rest of the day now.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely gets the toes tapping! :-)
