Red, White and Blue

Decking the halls
in red, white and blue!!

DH hung the flag buntings under the windows.
I love my little house, especially when she's dressed for the holidays.

Do you see my kitty cat at the door?
She meows when the flag waves in the breeze.

All this sunshine and rain is making the herbs happy!

Do you have big plans for Independence Day?
It's really hot here, so look for us near the water.

Tea Cozy Winners!!

Thank you to everyone who entered my tea cozy giveaway!  I appreciated your help in spreading the word.  And thank you for all your sweet comments.  The compliments were more than these simple cozies deserved.

I wish I had enough tea cozies for everyone.  But I only made 4.   I recently learned that  Marilyn Delights Of The Heart  sells tea cozies that are similar to the ones I made.  She also sells a pattern.  So if you did not win one of my cozies today,  I recommend visiting her tea shop, Marmalady's.

And now let's get on with announcing the 4 winners!

Piglet Cutting Boards

What has a curly tail and a cute little snout?

Why a little piglet cutting board, of course.

Did you grow up with one of these in your kitchen?

My first piggy board came from  Mrs. E.,
the little old lady who lived next door to my grandparents.
(third one down in the collage)

The other three were found here and there.
Oink!  Oink!

Each board is unique.
Look at the differences in the eyes, ears, snout and tail.
Some are fatter than others.  Some are smiling.
One day I hope to have enough wooden piggy boards to make a border
on the wall above my kitchen table.

Me.  The girl who loved little pigs.
(My Dad took this picture of me.)

Village Green

Village Green
My own little global village.

This is one of my unfinished quilts.  (I know, I need to get these things finished up.) Please pardon the wrinkles.  I  just pulled it out of a drawer.  Three of the four main blocks in this quilt were from a block exchange.

Each of the little buildings/houses is unique.

I pieced the Kansas pioneer sod house.  Each block of sod is a little rectangle of fabric.  And the door opens.

My sister made the church.   She was inspired by a beautiful Colonial church in Brazil, where she lived at the time.  I love the palm tree and the leafy vegetation.  It looks so real.

My Australian friend made the farmhouse with the front porch and flower garden.  It is the house she grew up in. (This one was not part of that block swap, but was given to me at a different time.)

And the pink house with the yellow roof was made by another American participant in the swap.

I thought all the little houses should be gathered together, peacefully, in one village.  And this is the result.

Tea Cozies

THANK YOU to all of you who read my blog and leave such sweet comments.  Your friendship and support mean a lot to me.   So I whipped up a batch of pretty tea cozies for you.  Yes, I'm having a little giveaway for my followers, old and new.  I made 4 cozies, so there will be 4 winners drawn!!

Tea cozies

Choose from:

1.  Gathering Mushrooms-  with orangey-red polkadot lining

2.  Tiffany Blue and Chocolate-  with light blue polkadot lining.

3.  Green Garden-  with light green polkadot lining

4.  Rose In Bloom-  with a pinkish-red plaid lining

These cozies are just like my own, that I have pictured here on this blog in the past.

Each winner will receive one tea cozy and a couple of little goodies.  Sorry, the teapots are not included.  Each cozy will fit most medium or med/large pots. 4, 5, 6 cup pots for sure, and maybe even bigger ones.

Any of my followers may enter, no matter where you live.    I will mail to overseas address if you win.

HOW TO ENTER:  Follow my blog  and make a comment on this post letting me know which one(s) you  are interested in.  You may pick your favorite(s),  or all four.   (Be sure to leave your e-mail with me if you don't have a direct link back to your blog when I click on your comment.)

Note: There will not be any repeat winners.  If the random drawing pulls the same name more than once,  I will draw again.

For a SECOND CHANCE  to win your favorite cozy:  mention this giveaway either in a post or on your sidebar with a link back to my blog.  (Be sure to let me  know if you do this  and then tell me which cozy you want the additional chance on. )  You may borrow any of the pictures from this post.

This giveaway will be open for entries through midnight, Tuesday, June 21.    I will draw four winners names and make the announcement  on Wednesday, June 22.

GOOD LUCK!!

A tea cozy is a wonderful way to help keep your tea nice and hot.  Simply open the cozy, insert the spout of your filled teapot through the front opening, pull the ribbons to gather the cozy around the lid and tie at the handle.
Washing instructions: The fabrics have all been pre-washed.  In the future these tea cozies can be machine washed in cold water (in a mesh lingerie bag so the ribbon doesn't get worn) and hung to dry.

Froggy In The Basil

Froggy in the basil.
(The real frogs are croaking away in the creek.)

(P.S. -  No, I did not make him.  My best friend found him at a garden shop and gave him to me.)
