I had an opportunity to take an Herbal Pantry class
with Martha, of Lines From Linderhoff, yesterday.
The setting at Fire Lake Camp was idyllic!
Beautiful home and barn, with sweeping lawn down to the lake.
Tables set with jadeite dishes and milk glass vases filled with zinnias.
Julie was the sweetest hostess one could ever meet.
We gathered around the kitchen island and
Martha showed us how to make herbal vinegar, jam, honey
flour, sugar, salt, butter and pesto.
Each of those things was then incorporated into the lunch we were served.
It was all so fresh and beautifully presented.
Scrumpdillyicious!
Pesto pasta
Carrot and cranberry salad with lavender honey vinaigrette
Lettuce, basil and tomato salad with basil vinaigrette
Biscuits, with chive butter and peach rosemary jam
Blueberry basil jam cake with icing
Lavender sugar cookies
I enjoyed chatting with all the wonderful ladies at our table.
And what a delight to meet Martha in person!
Such a pleasant and happy way to spend part of my Saturday!
Looks like you had a fun time and ate very well:@)
ReplyDeleteWe sure did, Lynn!
DeleteIt was a fun day wasn't it! Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteMartha, it was so nice to meet you! You shared so many wonderful ideas for incorporating herbs and flavor into our cooking and making herbal gifts to give. My friend and I had a wonderful time!
DeleteWhat a lovely way to spend a day, Gayle! I would love to do something like that...only for more than a day. I would really like to learn how to use herbs to do very nice and delicious things for my family and friends. I'm so glad you had the opportunity to do this. The picture that included you was such a wonderful picture of you! And was the lady seated beside you your bestie? She looks so familiar (and sweet). Have a wonderful Sunday, my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful class. Martha brought along samples and recipes and shared how she made things. Having all the goodies included in the lunch afterwards really made it special. It was really nice to meet other women who were interested in food preparation and herb gardening, too.
DeleteYes, my friend and I have been best friends forever. (Our parents were good friends, so we met at age two. We have no memory of a time when we didn't know each other.)
I love using my herbs. That would be wonderful to meet Martha and learn from her!
ReplyDeleteAnn, you would have loved this class/luncheon!

DeleteHow wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEverything sounds delicious. I'm especially taken with cranberry and carrot salad. What a perfect day.
ReplyDeleteThe carrots and cranberries helped me to "eat the rainbow" that day. (An easy way for me to remember to eat a variety of healthy fruits and vegetables each day.)
