I crocheted snowflake ornaments to give to the girls in my book-club.
I found the free instructions here.
It's a Russian you-tube, with English subtitles.
(So now I know how to count to six in Russian.)
I used a much thicker yarn (Baby Bee Sweet Delight) and larger hook (F) than she did,
because that is what I had on hand.
My stars ended up being about 7 inches across; a nice size to hang in a window.
I starched (spray starch) and blocked by lightly pressing them between cloths.
After drying overnight, I sewed a few sequins and beads to the points
to add a wee bit of sparkle.
Those will look so pretty on a tree or a window. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
DeleteOh how wonderful! I wish I had your talent. I have paper snowflakes hanging above the fireplace, but yours are simply gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. I bet your mantle is beautiful! :-)
DeleteThese are so pretty. I wish I could crochet. Maybe my New Years Resolution should be to learn!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you should! If I can learn to crochet, anyone can. :-)

ReplyDeleteI hope you do! :-)
DeleteThey are beautiful, Gayle! They look very intricate. Enjoy your day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteThank you, Twyla! :-) Not too intricate. I'm not ready for anything too complicated, yet.

Thank you, Carolien! Yes, I do remember that bag. Glad to hear you have found good use for it over these past couple of years since the giveaway. :-)
DeleteLove these! Some day I may learn to crochet!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do learn to crochet. I am still learning.
DeleteThey are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anke!
DeleteReally sweet. I like this pattern, too bad I can't crochet!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! I'm finally able to follow a few simple patterns. Crocheting has been a challenge for me.
DeleteSo sweet! The snowflakes would look lovely on a small Christmas tree! ... or hanging in the window :) Summer greetings and Holiday hugs from Australia♥ ~Pernilla
ReplyDeleteI think they would work in either place, too. :-)
DeleteSo pretty. The girls in your book club are very lucky to have you as a friend. Barbara x
ReplyDeleteThat is sweet of you to say!
DeleteOh! Nice job! I know your book club girls will enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteThese bring back memories!
I used to have some of these and some crocheted angels, too!
One year I hung them all alone on my tree with babies breath and lace bows.
It made for a pretty tree!
That sounds so pretty, Holly. I'd love to see a picture of that tree.
DeleteI do have a pic of it but my scanner is on the fritz!
ReplyDeleteWell, one day, when it gets sorted out. :-)
DeleteSimply adorable! How clever of you to learn how to do this from a Russian YouTube.
ReplyDeleteNot so clever. There were English subtitles to help with anything I couldn't figure out by watching the video.
