A big pile of books to read
(real ones, borrowed from the library)
and a nice pot of green tea,
equals one happy girl.
These three should keep me busy for the next two weeks.
And if not, I've got a couple more waiting in the other room.
Have you read any good books lately?
Currently Reading:
The Girl In The Blue Beret - Bobbie Ann Mason
The Rose of Sebastopol - Katherine McMahon
The Last Runaway - Tracy Chevalier
I have a lot on my mind to read lately, one of them is Big Brother by Lionel Shriver. I like to happen on bloggers who are reading. Hope you have lots of time to give us a report.
ReplyDeletePeggy, this sounds like an interesting book. It is sad that we have such a love hate relationship with food, and that size is still an acceptable excuse for bullying and discrimination in this country. I'll have to add this book to my list.
DeleteOh I love to read, I just read one recommended by my daughter. Written as a novel but 90% true....I couldn't put the book down. I loved it. Queen of the Water by Laura Resau. Are you on goodreads.com?
ReplyDeleteRebecca, I looked up the review on goodreads. (Yes, I am on there.) It sounds very interesting. I like historical fiction, so it's going on my list.
DeleteI love to read too, Gayle! And I've been stocking up on green tea. Enjoy your reads!
ReplyDeleteThe Last Runaway!!!! I loved it! I think I gave it the very highest rating that I give! Let me know if you like the other 2. I just got home from the library and I'm making myself a cup of coffee. Wouldn't we be a pair if we lived next door! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed that book! We would make great neighbors!
DeleteI always feel so rich when I have a stack of books! Right now I'm reading Jane Gardam's Last Friends.
ReplyDeleteThe trilogy sounds really good! I'll add it to my list. :-)
DeleteNo, I have been busy...but I need to start reading again! Enjoy yourself
ReplyDeleteYou need a third hand, as your other two are busy with your embroidery. :-) Have you given audio books a try?
DeleteI love anything by Tracy Chevalier but haven't read The Last Runaway yet. I just finished The Light Betwen Oceans by M.L Stedman and it was excellent. Just started A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra. So far so good. Reading and tea, my two favourite pass times.
ReplyDeleteBooks and tea just go together! :-) Both of these books sound really good, and I've added them to my list.
DeleteI'll have to check out the books you are reading, I wonder if I could get them on Kindle? Tho, right now I have about 4 books I'm reading :)
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, I do not know if these are available in a kindle or not. (I don't have an e-reader. I prefer having the real book in my hands.) Like you, I often read several books at a time.
DeleteI love real books, the ones with paper pages. I am not much of an ebook reader though l do read a lot of articles online. Nothing beats a good book and a lovely warm cup of tea or coffee. I have borrowed Wlibur Smith: For those in peril... But am feeling awfully restless these days and havn't managed to get started. Read two books this Summer by Mary Higgins Clark and Johan Theorin. I am in the middle of Henning Mankell's "Daisy Sisters" but finding it a bit unengaging. I am a bit picky as far as books go l think :-). Enjoy your reading and tea, Pam xx
ReplyDeleteAdventure books are great! I'll have to see if I can find the Daisy Sisters in English.. so far my search on goodreads has only come up with a German version. (I like having the real book in my hands, too.)
DeleteI love to read . . . problem is though, when I do . . . nothing else is accomplished.
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading 'Me Before You' by JoJo Moyes. Very good . . .
Enjoy your reads and tea . . .
Sounds like a sweet romance. I think I would like to work in the "Buttered Bun Tea Shop", too! :-)
DeleteI used to read all the time. I hate to admit how many books I have stacked on the nightstand that are gathering dust. That's the former librarian in ME!
ReplyDeleteDust is easily wiped off. :-) As the weather gets cooler there will probably be more opportunities to curl up and read a book.
DeleteI wish I read more, but I tend to keep my hands too busy for reading! But, there is something about fall that is nice to cozy up and read!! Enjoy your books! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteHeather, have you ever tried audio books? Ears can listen while hands are busy.
DeleteHello Gayle, your picture looks so inviting! I’m reading pride and prejudice at them moment, it's one that I love to pick up and read again and again. Next up is Isabel’s skin by Peter Benson and then. The husband’s secret by Liane Moriarty.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know how I’ve missed so many of your posts – I must catch up now! :)
Those books sound intriguing, as well. My "to read" list has grown a mile long since writing this post. (Pride and Pejudice is one of my favorites, too.)
DeleteI love reading, and there's nothing like a good cup of tea and a wonderful read to relax me and transport me to another world.
ReplyDeleteExactly. You can go around the world and back in time in the pages of a book.
