I finally finished up the bright, granny stripe, baby afghan
I started making for my niece and her new baby.
I'm very happy with how it came out.
Next time I will have to learn to play with rows of different sizes.
Baby steps...
All this crochet stuff is a challenge for me.
No, the baby is not named Joseph...
just in case you were wondering.
;-)
I used Baby Bee Sweet Delight yarn in 11 colors:
Meema's Blue, Surf Baby, Surf Mommy, Teal Too, Mint Charm, Baby Sage,
Bashful, Apricot Jam, Sugar Plum, Lil Princess, and Sunkisses.
Meema's Blue was the color I repeated most often and used on the border.
(I did start a second skein of that color.)
I wanted vertical stripes, not horizontal,
so I made my starting row as long as I wanted the sides to be.
so I made my starting row as long as I wanted the sides to be.
I crocheted 45 double rows of grannys using a size F/5/3.75mm hook.
And I finished it all off with double V edging.
I love the blanket, it looks so bright and cheery! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anke!
DeleteGoodness me you are a busy bee - lovely colours and such neat work - very envious
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Jenny
Thanks, Jenny! I wanted the colors to be bright for this baby.
DeleteHow beautiful! I bought a crochet hook and skein of yarn, and hope to manage a simple scarf. Your stitches are so even looking, congrats, you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pam. If I can do it, so can you. :-)
DeleteSo colorful. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou are still doing better than I
ever thought of doing.

Thanks, Donna!
DeleteSo cute - and a great way to use that stitch - and you could even use up scraps with this pattern too.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great way to use up scraps of yarn!
DeleteVery pretty blanket! Twyla
ReplyDeleteThank you, Twyla. It means a lot, coming from you. It was the giant granny that you made that inspired me to learn how to crochet.
DeleteIt's beautiful! I love the colors. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryl!
DeleteTurned out so sweet....Heidi
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteVery nice! The baby will be all snuggly and cheerful in this blanket.
ReplyDeleteI hope there is enough color to provide hours of entertainment for baby.
DeleteI love your colour combinations. Well done, I wouldn't know how to start. Your description even confuses me. I'm sure baby and mum/mom will love it.
ReplyDeleteDiane, I confuse myself. :-) I've only been crocheting for about a year and I still have so much to learn.
DeleteYou really are amazing. Such a snuggly and beautiful blanket. What a precious keepsake.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. This baby lives where the winters are cold, so a nice snuggly blanket was in order.
DeleteIt's very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie!
DeleteIt is gorgeous! Love the colours you have used.
ReplyDeleteLiz @ Shortbread & Ginger

ReplyDeleteOne of these days I will learn how to make a ripple afghan. :-)
DeleteThat is so sweet. I love all the colors and how you added the crochet edge.
ReplyDeleteI hope the baby will enjoy all the bright color, too.
DeleteThis turned really lovely, Gayle! One would never guess that crocheting is a challenge for you. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI try to teach myself at least one new stitch or technique with each blanket I make. I have such a long way to go.
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift of the heart! Beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. It's absolutely lovely. The colors just pop.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Bright color was really important to me on this particular blanket.
