There was no doubt that it needed to come hang on the walls at my house, since I was the daughter who lived in the sunflower state. I really love the cheerful pop of color in the family room. And it brings back such wonderful memories of hours spent crafting and sewing with my Mama.

WHAT a treasure...Love the colors popping out of it. Mama's handiwork. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very cheerful piece. What a great family heirloom to have hanging in your home now. I made an embroidered floral piece in the early 80's that my Mom still has hanging in her living room.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. Looks like we may have gotten some relief from the heat!

That's a beautiful piece your mom made! It's so bright and colorful!
ReplyDeleteI remember my sister doing a similar crewel design for my mum and dad - and it still hangs at their place. Those 70's colours take me back!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece! I haven't seen much crewel lately. And what a wonderful keepsake!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful memory this is.
ReplyDeleteLove your sunflower art piece and what a wonderful memory.

dawn:)
I just love that, especially because just having a piece that your Mom made is so inspiring and treasured!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I found a crewel kit that my mother had made for me in the 70's on e-bay. The original had been lost in a fire. I also found a kit of one that I had done. They are on my 8/7 post.
ReplyDeleteVery festive. It is great to have happy memories tied to things.
ReplyDeleteStay cool and enjoy your day.

ReplyDeleteHi! Love the crewel, so much time it takes tho. I'm a Kansas girl too, and I caught your PURPLE comment over at the KU tablescape. I'm your newest follower - come visit me sometime and stay awhile! Sandi
ReplyDeleteHow great to have something so lovely that your Mother made with her own fair hands!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your treasure. I remember when so many were doing different types of handwork, like crewel, macrame, etc., but I never did. Lack of patience I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteYour mother's crewel work piece is gorgeous, I love it. The colors are so 70's. I have a section of the family room dedicated to these colors.
ReplyDeleteMy mom came from the Sunflower State :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful memory she created for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that! Wonder why we don't see much crewel work these days? I'm voting for a comeback ;).

Gorgeous colorful piece! I remember doing crewel in Sunday School to give as gifts on Mother's Days. This one you have is pretty. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThat's a really beautiful piece. What a nice way to keep your memories.
ReplyDeleteMuch of the architecture of this town reminds me of Australian colonial country villages. They are so much fun to visit, one of my favorites is called Millthorpe, in New South Wales, there are local potters, weavers, vintners, a quilt shop & a small dairy making lovely cheese!
