There were several more dresses, in reds and yellows, that I shared with one of my sisters who loves those cheery shades on the warm side of the color wheel. She used tiny clothes pins and hung them from a small clothesline on the wall of her laundry room. And they look really cute that way!
I would like to do that, but I don't have a laundry "room". My washer and dryer are down in the unfinished half of my basement. Just cement walls. I need help to figure out a way to display them someplace in my house. You gals always amaze me with your creativity! So... what would you do?
I think they were originally designed to be potholders for the kitchen, but they really are not thick enough to provide useful protection from heat.
I can't wait to hear your ideas!!!

ReplyDeleteMaybe there are some ideas on what to do with them there? I had a bunch of crocheted potholders similar to those in construction, but they are round. Similar colors and material I guess. So pretty and you they took hours to make. Great find!
These are too cute. I could see them framed individually with similar frames. The framed pieces could then be hung together as a group.

These are adorable!! I love your sister's idea but alas, I don't have a laundry room either...just a closet that the w/d fits into (and I am grateful for that, lol). Enjoy those cuties :)

What a wonderful find, I have seen them in red and white...but your other colors are great. I have them at my grandparents house on the fridge and sitting around. My neighboor collects them and has them lined about the cabinets in her kitchen.

Oh my, Gayle! Those are absolutely beautiful! I always think of my grandma when I see something like that. She didn't do the dresses, but she did doily after doily after doily. I've never really worked with the cotton thread to crochet, but have always envied those who do because they turn out such awesome work! Maybe that could be my "learn something new" for winter, yes?

Hi! Those are such darlin' little dresses. If you think you might ever have a granddaughter, you could hold on to them and create the clothesline idea for the nursery. Those would be just precious in a baby room ; )

I adore those tiny frocks - I have a few - and I've seen patterns for some - but I like the vintage ones best. I've never seen some of the ones you show - they are all just darling. Mine are in a box - I should get them out and display them someplace too.

I have a narriow wall space next to my microwave where I hang small things such as your potholder dresses. They sure are pretty!

If you ever have a baby shower for someone who is having a little girl, they would be so cute hung on a line or pinned to a tablecloth, or even stuck to a wreath on the door. Such a lucky find! ReplyDeleteI have quite a few of these doily dresses........I pin them to the old table cloths I have on my fridge and freezer. The cloth hangs down the side and it's just right to 'pin' the dress on the table cloth! I have lots of other shapes I mix up with the dresses.
