H is For Hoolie!

H is for Hoolie!  That's Gaelic for party.  It's all about good company, good music and good fun!
If you are from around here, the Hoolie is held the weekend before St. Patrick's day and includes a little bit of this:

(The O'Riada Academy Of Irish Dance Performing Group.  I did not take these pictures.  I think one of the other  parents did.)

And a little bit of this:   The Elders!!

It's Alphabe-Thursday, so head over to Jenny Matlock's to read all the other H posts.

Don't forget to enter your name into the drawing for my little giveaway.  Let me know if you want to enter and if you are interested in  #1, #2 or both.  Last chance to sign up is Friday.  I will draw names on Saturday morning.   Good luck to everyone!

  6. Clogging - is that what the Irish dancing is called? - is like magic to me! How do they go so fast and look like it's effortless?!

You must be proud of your child up there with the dancers! How cool is that?

  30. Good evening, Gayle.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving such sweet comments about my pottery collection.

To answer your question...no, I've never really been brave enough to try throwing pots. It is tons of fun to watch Jon throw because he knows what he's doing. I'm not really very coordinated and just from watching him throw I'm guessing that is rather essential to a degree.

I'm glad that your daughter enjoyed the classes she took and can throw pots. I admire anyone who can.

Hope you've had a good day today!

  35. The section of St. Louis known as "Dogtown" is a dyed in the wool Irish community.

They have one of the largest celebrations in the state. There is also a very famous bar in Dogtown that we like to visit when in the city. But, I have never heard the word Hoolie before. Always nice to learn something new.

Thanks for stopping by my hat post. And, I agree with you. I also wish that more people would go back to wearing hats. Real hats and loose the baseball caps.
