Bananas

Do you like Bananas?

I found this fun recipe book the other day while vintage treasure hunting
and had to have it!

Yes, I do like to eat bananas,
and even have a few decorative ones around the house.

But
the real reason I love bananas is....

Miss Chiquita Banana!!

She was my music teacher at school for many years.
And I loved her!
Of course she taught us to sing the banana song.
"I'm Chiquita Banana and I've come to say,
Bananas like to ripen in a certain way..."

There were several Miss Chiquita's over the years.
They served as spokesperson's, made appearances and sang jingles.
Some were more famous than others.   But this one was my favorite!

Now, while I go figure out how to make Banana Coconut Rolls,
I bet you have memories you could share about interesting people you knew.

  6. I love this post. Cute pics. We are a banana lovin' family. For my eldest's 5th birthday she requested a Hawaiian themed party so I made a CD mix with Limbo, Harry Belafonte, and of course, the chiquita banana song! We still sing it around the house. Let me know how that dessert turns out!

  9. Loved those old movies with the dolled up ladies. They always reminded me of the Banana Lady. Can't believe you found that great book. Wonderful graphics. Fantastic memory for you. There were teachers that really touched our hearts along the way. Nice to remember them like this...smiles...Renee

  10. I remember my mom having a bowl of plastic fruit- including a banana- in a Tupperware bowl on our kitchen table. In fact, I remember a lot of homes having plastic fruit, or miniature plastic fruit on some sort of topiary on the coffee table. Strange times, those '70s.

  18. I like bananas but only by themselves or in a bread. I try to eat one every day for the potassium. Your teacher looks like she was a lot of fun! I don't remember having a teacher like that, mine were old and grumpy. LOL!

  20. Seriously, she was your music teacher, how fab!
Like Charlotte I enjoy a banana and peanut butter sandwich, usually toasted. (Elvis always had his fried in butter, so I heard!)
Not sure about adding mayo to the mix though.
