I poked around at A&O Architectural Salvage yesterday afternoon.
So many wonderful bits and pieces from the past:
Gingerbread trim, door knobs, lights, stained glass and fireplace mantels.
I loved this stained glass Mary.
And I thought the long piece of white lattice trim might look fun
hanging horizontally on the wall above the tv in the family room.
Now if I can just convince my husband to part with a bunch of do-re-mi...
Have you used salvaged pieces in your home?
I've always wanted a stain glass window. I think it would be perfect in a kitchen or a kitchen door. Love what you've shown...and no, I've never used anything like this in our house but I like it. Hugs!

DeleteThe stained glass of Mary is gorgeous, as is the rest of the stained glass I see. I would take her home if I could.

ReplyDeleteI saw some really wonderful old wooden doors with gorgeous hardware. So glad they are able to save these beautiful pieces before homes are torn down or remodeled.

DeleteOooooh.....I LURVE fossicking around architectural salvage yards!!! Yes indeedy, our li'l ole abode is filled to the rafters with salvage treasures!! I must say, that I just might 'sell my soul' for those stained glass windows!!

DeleteI wish we had an architectural salvage in our area. So much cool stuff! Sometimes I can pick up things at a garage sale but that's about it.

Maybe you'll have to take a theater job out this direction, sometime. Ha ha, can you imagine trying to carry one of those huge salvaged pieces back home on the airplane?

DeleteI love old pieces. I have a wooden box made of old lumber and painted white - with lots of wear. I also have a lot of driftwood on the deck and in the yard - one looks like a whale diving - we carried it up to our station wagon from the beach on an island - it had to fit up between the front seats because it was so long - almost as long as our car - and we worried that they would say something to us about it when we took the ferry back home - but no one seemed to notice. Salvaged lumber made a lot of the small benches/tables on our deck too. I made a goose out of barn wood and it hangs on the side wall by the deck - I do love old wood especially.
ReplyDeleteI love things made with old wood, too. So glad they save barn boards, etc... I suppose the people on the ferries have grown accustomed to seeing people haul home pieces of driftwood.

DeleteI have always wanted to go to a place like that. I love old architectural pieces. I have a couple of pieces of fret work that I have hanging in my home. I bet you felt like a kid in a candy store.

DeleteI have an old store sign in my kitchen. I love the look of the old korbels from Victorian houses. But have never found any I could part with money to buy. But I LOVE the look. I also love RUST.... there are a lot of rusty pieces out there going neglected.

DeleteMy husband loves salvage yards. We own several doors for our potting shed and have two old windows hanging above our fireplace mantle. During the summer, both girls get dragged to salvage yards with Chris on a regular basis.

ReplyDeleteOh, I am! But I still pick up new bits and pieces from time to time. I didn't that day though, because things were a bit too pricey for me.
DeleteWhat a wonderful place to browse in. The white piece is really pretty...but if I had a lot of money, I'd be buying the stained glass pieces! That is a weakness of mine. I could stand for hours and look at the beauty that appears when the sun shines through.

DeleteThat looks like a great place! One thing I have used is old windows. I have a three pane one that has quilt block behind it and a small lead one that I use for necklaces. I love the idea of the trim on the wall! Hope if you decide to do it you will post a picture!

DeleteThat looks like a house of treasures to me. I love anything old and salvaged. I have a few things, like window screens, etc., but if I ever build a house I would love to use a lot of large salvaged pieces. I have a friend who just completed a house, using a lot of finds like these. The history always intrigues me.

DeleteNow that looks like a fabulous place for a rummage I love the stained glass windows. My whole house is vintage furniture that I gave rescued and restored its a great fun. Hooe you get the trim its lovely, dee x
