One of my favorite Christmas decorations is this felt advent tree
that I hang in my front hallway every year.
It has been in my family for a very looooong time.
My Mama found it at a church bazaar in the late 60's/early 70's.
It is such a perfect way to help little children count down the days til Christmas.
(The ornaments are numbered 1-25 on the reverse side.)
I'm noticing a few worn spots that need TLC.
So I'll have to perform felt and yarn surgery before I pack it away this year.
I have to keep it in good shape so it will last for another 40 years.
LOVE it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laurie!
DeleteI love it too! What gorgeous colors. Josie has a chocolate advent calendar that she's suppose to share with her sister. I don't think it's been shared all that often this advent season (smile).
ReplyDeleteSharing candy is hard, Kim. :-)
DeletePerfect 60s decoration. I love that it has been in your family for so long - it is delightful.
ReplyDeleteMy whole house is full of perfect 60's decorations. :-)
DeleteUnique, and pretty, too!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :-) I like unique things.
DeleteThis is so nice! I would love to have one like it. I'm currently looking at designs for Advent calendars, to make in time for next year. How wonderful that this one has stayed in your family so long.
ReplyDeleteSomething like this would be fairly easy to figure out how to make. But hand sewing sequins would take a bit of time.
DeleteOh I love it...I never get tired of that era. So nice that you are keeping it in good repair so it will truly be a family heirloom for generations to come. xo
ReplyDeleteThe years of my childhood are the golden era. :-)
DeleteSo nice to have family pieces. Like old friends!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, what a wonderful keepsake! Love the crocheted snowflakes in your previous post too!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :-)
DeleteThis is wonderful and great that you still have all the pieces for it too. I love the look.

Thanks, Danielle!
DeleteSo sweet! Some of my most favorite things were my mother's. Nothing new can take the place of something that my mother picked out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol. I agree.
DeleteI love advent trees! Such a splendid way for little ones to past those l-o-n-g days before Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteIt really does help them understand how to wait.
DeleteOh that is so Christmas cute, and how special that you have had it for so long!
ReplyDeleteChristmas cute is one of my favorite decorating styles. :-)
DeleteI love things like this that have been in the family for years. It is the tradition that makes Christmas so special. This is such a charming advent calendar.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Darlene!
Delete'Tis a beautiful Advent wall hanging. I love that it is a family tradition and that it will find a resting place each Christmas for many years!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah. It's been hanging in that same spot since my Mom passed it to me.
DeleteYou're wise to take such good care of an heirloom like this one - a treasure for the next generation.
ReplyDeleteI hope at least one of my kids or grandkids likes it as much as I do. I'd love to pass it on to a new generation.
DeleteThis is a really neat heirloom.
