Polish Pottery

I love this Polish stoneware!

On Saturday we stopped by Renditions
a wonderful Polish Pottery shop in Weston.

I got to pick out a piece,
but I can't show you what it is, yet.

Cuz it's supposed to be for the  #*#* anniversary of my 25th birthday,
which is coming up in the sorta-soon-ish-future.

And I'm not allowed to look at it again until that day.
In fact it's all wrapped up and in a bag.
So I'll have to show you later.

Anyway, I don't know very much about Polish pottery,
except that it's all hand stamped/painted in Boleslawiec, Poland
using the traditional folk art patterns of the region.

There are so many beautiful patterns and fun pieces to choose from!
Which one would you have picked?

  13. We have 6 cups and saucers that were made in Poland. Two are in the blue and cream and four have more green and black. Hubby actually found them - somebody was going to throw them away! They are all hand painted and really pretty, so I don't know why somebody wouldn't want them...

  14. I love that pottery too. I am Polish so I think my love stems from that. I found a cute jug at the thrift store. Snatched it up for only $3. Can't wait to see your piece.

  20. Oh my gosh, you have a lot of willpower...to KNOW what you picked out, and yet have it in a bag, wrapped out and won't bring it out until your ANNIVERSARY of your 25th birthday (tee, hee, that is funny)
All those pieces are amazing. I would have a horrible time trying to pick just one piece.

  21. I love polish pottery and have quite a few pieces. I just use the serving pieces not the regular dishes as I use Blue Willow for regular. I can't believe how many beautiful designs there are. It can be quite pricey but I think it is worth it.
I did find some in TJ Maxx one day and couldn't buy it fast enough We have a lot of Polish folks in our area. Don't know if that it why it is fairly easy to find.
Looking forward to seeing what you choose.

  22. I bet you could tablescape with the best of 'em! Those pieces are so sturdy looking, is the little girl covered dish for butter? There aren't a lot of Poles here in Scandinavian land so I don't know about that kind of pottery. I love learning about new things because it never fails, I'll go somewhere and see it after I read it on a blog! Such will power, hidden in a bag, he'd have to take it in his car at my house to keep me from peeking! Smile.

  27. Do you know I spied the very same Polish pottery here in France in a central town shop and I stared and stared and, dare I add, lusted at the shelves of intricate blue patterns. They are all beautiful but I had a soft spot for the little folk and rabbits.

    I wonder which you chose...

  28. I LOVE Polish pottery! I don't have any, but have always admired it. I don't know how I could choose just one though. It would have to be a chicken :) or maybe a pie plate or other serving piece. Happy 25th birthday ;) Mine is June 5th!
