Taft Bridge

Mr. Garden on Taft Bridge.

100 years ago they built this footbridge strong enough to hold President Taft.
They feared that the existing wood bridge, on the small midwestern college campus
where he was engaged to speak, would collapse under his weight.
He was a really big fellow.
Mr. Garden, however, is a trim tennis player.

  1. I don't think it would make me all that thrilled that bridges were bring built to sustain my girth but some people are funny that way.

  2. Very interesting fact, President Taft was a pretty big fella. I wouldn't want to be reminded of my size, but I guess we girls are funny about such things.lol.
    Enjoy your day.

  4. You know it's diet time when they have to build a new bridge just to hold your weight!

  7. Hopefully they will start making aeroplane seats bigger for really big people so that they don't squash us littlies. Interesting facts about the bridge. Your lucky to have a trim tennis player, I have a not so trim couch potato, but I'm trying to get him off the couch and into a park for walks.

  8. It is a good thing Taft was such a big man because that is a beautiful bridge! (A bit of overkill maybe?)
