Reading Reptile

We have the most amazing children's bookstore here in town:
Reading Reptile, Books and Tapes For Young Mammals.
It's a magical place, where all your  child's favorite characters come to life!
Every inch, every nook and cranny, is filled with the wonder of picture books.
Even the ceiling is covered!

"Caps For Sale" is a classic.

Chairs in cozy reading areas invite you to sit and peruse books with your child.
The store hosts a storytime, book club,  movie night,  authors visits,
wonderful birthday parties and many other special events.

Do you recognize all these fun story critters?
My children loved "My Father's Dragon".

When the kids were little, we followed the dinosaur tracks to the store in Westport.
The Reading Reptile relocated a few years ago
to a wonderful new space in Brookside, and my children have grown up,
but I still stop by to purchase books for the other little people in my life.
I hope you will visit soon too!

Celebrate with books!  Read to your children!

  1. What a great store full of wonder and creativity Gayle.........as an adult it looks like a place I would love to visit as I love looking at the latest childrens books.

I wish this sort of shop was around when No. 1 was a littlie........... I think we would've visited regularly.

He was never a fan of reading when he was at school, but as a 20 y.o. he's starting to enjoy reading and purchasing books for himself, so it's never too late.

  14. I love it!
The gift of a love of reading is one of the best gifts we can give a child. A bookstore such as this one is a wonderful way to nurture that love.

  15. This is my idea of heaven and I am so happy you shared those pictures of your local bookstore with us.

We are all bookworms in our family and have dreamed of opening a bookshop/tearoom one day when we have the revenue for it.

I am amazed by this particular bookshop and it has made me feel very chirpy this morning. Your local children must be so very happy to go there.

    Have a fantastic week.

  29. What a brilliant shop - I'd love to be able to browse! Straight away I noticed 'Go Dog Go' (first picture, bottom left). I loved that book as a child in the 60's and it was one of my son's favourites when he was (much) younger. (He's now 13).
