Amy, Magic Doll

Do you all remember the paperdolls that had clothes with no tabs?
Their clothes just stuck to them.  Like magic.

This is Amy.  (Whitman 1968)

I do declare, I must have been out of my mind
when I dressed this poor doll in a thick sweater for the bloggy-fashion-shoot.
It's a roasting outside!   She needs to be in a swim suit!

That's better!
Hope you are staying cool, too.

Glad I'm not the only one still playing with paper dolls.
I just ordered some a few weeks ago on etsy. I'll have to show them to you on my blog sometime.
A hint-there are five of them!

  5. Oh yes - indeed she needs a swim suit - and if she lived up here she could go out in the rain in it and be perfectly happy.

  6. No - really - the sweater is just the thing for the cold and the rain we've had up here today. I had to put the heat on in the house today - so late in July!

  7. Playing with paper dolls is a lovely way to stay cool. I have loads of them in my craft room. I think Miss Josie needs to be introduced to them again on this hot weekend.

  14. I do remember those -- loved them. I never could get into paper dolls -- no matter how my mom tried to convince me they were fun (not ;), but I loved the sticky ones.

  17. Too cute! And I'm glad you took care of poor Miss Amy. I get so angry with parents who don't dress their children appropriately for the weather!!

  19. It is so good how you have preserved these little bits of history. She could wear her sweater here, down under, we have cooler weather now.

  21. Oh yes, I do remember paper dolls with the clingy clothes! My favorite paper doll was the Betsy McCall doll that was in the old McCall magazine. My grandma got that magazine and I got to cut out the clothes every month. Good memories.

  23. Oh! FUN! I do remember these. We weren't poor by any means, but my mother would buy me these as a little treat or surprise instead of a new doll. I loved them! :) I wish I had some of them now. sigh.... :)
