Crewel Sunflowers

My Mom made this wonderful crewel needlework canvas years ago (circa 1970) and I have always loved it!

There was no doubt that it needed to come hang on the walls at my house, since I was the daughter who lived in the sunflower state.   I really love the cheerful pop of color in the family room.  And it brings back such wonderful memories of hours spent crafting and sewing with my Mama.

Thank you to hostess:

  4. It's a very cheerful piece. What a great family heirloom to have hanging in your home now. I made an embroidered floral piece in the early 80's that my Mom still has hanging in her living room.
Have a great weekend. Looks like we may have gotten some relief from the heat!

  13. Beautiful! I found a crewel kit that my mother had made for me in the 70's on e-bay. The original had been lost in a fire. I also found a kit of one that I had done. They are on my 8/7 post.

  21. Thanks for sharing your treasure. I remember when so many were doing different types of handwork, like crewel, macrame, etc., but I never did. Lack of patience I guess. :)

  36. Much of the architecture of this town reminds me of Australian colonial country villages. They are so much fun to visit, one of my favorites is called Millthorpe, in New South Wales, there are local potters, weavers, vintners, a quilt shop & a small dairy making lovely cheese!
